As an Islander fan, i don’t really like this news. Dubie is a consummate professional, a clutch backup, and all in all a terrific player to root for. Yes Joey Mac would be cemented as the backup to DiPi, which is a downgrade. This should easily take the whole backup goalie dilemma off of Garth Snow’s shoulders (though it probably isn’t on them). He will be sorely missed on the island, but I am estatic that Dubie is getting this opportunity. He completely deserves it.
For any other Islander fans who are upset that Dubie is leaving, (because it’s the beginning of baseball season, I’m using baseball references) this is like Mets fans crying over Damion Easley leaving for another team, leaving the Mets stuck without a solid backup for Jose Reyes and David Wright. If you’re a Mets fan, you should be more concerned with Pedro’s hammy and your downright awful bullpen than a backup middle infielder. Hence my point that the Islanders should worry more about adding some quality forwards like Marian Hossa (because Comrie’s team leading 49 points is obviously NOT cutting it) than finding a backup goalie.
Best Wishes Dubie. If its true i would take the money and run
wow, that’s a interesting rumor. If I were him, I’d take it..
Dubie needs to take that if it’s true, the most he’ll prob get from the islanders is $750,000
Totally a rumor at the moment, but I read this on the hockey’s future message boards…
HOKEJ.CZ: reports CSKA Moscow has made a one-year, $1.8 million contract offer to NY Islanders goaltender Wade Dubielewicz for next season.
Not to mention the ton of commercials promoting their games on tv..
Rob Henniger signed with the Isles today.Bport next year?
I must say that the sound tigers have improved their marketing a lot. yes the tickets are high and the team hasn’t had a lot of success the past few seasons by not making the playoffs. But 2 years ago did u see anything about the team on electronic billboards? I must say the word of mouth is catching on, and we’ve had some nice crowds, and being a good team and making the playoffs does help. I also think the sound tigers front office has some good community relations people. The St. Baldrick’s event was great publicity for the team, as was delivering the stuffed animals from the teddy bear toss to the hospitals. Other good publicity was being on WTNH when they followed the team on the road.
Something I also like that was added this season was Sound Tigers TV.
I have to say that things are looking a lot better off the ice, things just need to improve on the ice, but that is mostly in the hands of the Islanders.
I like the idea of lots of giveaway for fan appreciation night. Never won one, but I’ve always liked “shirts off our backs” promotions.
I don’t like the cheap stuff that any team uses throughout the season to try to get people in the door.
Toothbrushes
damn comp went nuts
I have to be honest winning stuff like that is fun but if you were to put a solid playoff team in the building ,I could care less if they pass out used .
it’s not the team. It’s the lack of corporate support
The BST don’t make enough money to give away stuff like that.. granted their ticket prices are on the high end. I’ll never forget Booter looking at one of my tickets and saying “wow you pay 42 bucks just to watch us play”..

Is there anything on youtube? It doesn’t surprise me at all.. I always had a hunch the AHL Suits didn’t like the Tigers..
I guess Pascal needed to stay on the ice longer and break his nose or something. I find it hard to understand how that mugging was any different then what Kip did. Oh…. hang on… I know the difference, Kip was standing up for a fallen teammate while Grenier was third man in on an argument he had no part in. Geez… the AHL office sucks.
That is a BullS&^t suspension.Bport has been getting hosed by the AHl Lawmakers all season.
The league announced a three-game suspension for Grenier. Which is precisely the rest of the regular season.
Have heard nothing clear/final on Figren.
I think Bingo has a game left with Syracuse and since they never lose that should be the two points of blood we need out of them.
If you’re wearing a BST jersey this week you’ve got to be convinced that a 4 game sweep is the only possible way you could get in. And it’s almost imperative that Philly sweeps Hershey in regulation since if Hershey gets a point it will eliminate Bingo and make them less likely to put up an effort on Sunday.
Amazingly, the best case scenario for us might be to go into Sunday tied with Hershey with Bingo one point back. We would control our own destiny and a win would put us in while a regulation loss would end it. If we got to OT then we’d need Bingo to win.
Um….. Go Tigers! Beat Penguins! One day at a time.
Mike, have you heard anything regarding robin figren? I think Andy mentioned something about him going to sweden to play next season.
Hershey and Bingo close the season against each other, that could be a ginormous game.
And if Bridgeport only gets six and Hershey gets none, Binghamton also has to lose at least once before playing Sunday at Hershey.
Yeah, I think that’s right.
Hershey’s magic number is 3, if I’m not mistaken.
So lets make sure we have this correct.
If Bport gets all 8 points ,the most hershey can get is 2.
If Bport gets 6 hershey cant get any.
Bport will hold any tie breaker because they have more wins.
This sounds very far fetched but hey its crunch time.
Which is why I’m a big supporter of us playing the Phantoms in the first round! We can personally take WBS out of the picture while Philly is doing us a favor. Then we can spend 7 games fighting it out with Brennan and Grenier.
Unless I’m missing something, all three are Group 6. All at least 25, all played at least three seasons, none played 80 NHL games.
They’ll surely have something on Grenier in time. Now the funny part is, if you think he makes Philadelphia better and you want the Sound Tigers to have a chance to make the playoffs… you don’t want him suspended at all, because they play Hershey twice this week.
Mike, my source is nhlscap.com (not sure how accurate it is) but that’s where i saw Spiller, Keith and Jackman are RFA’s. nhlnumbers.com says that Keith is a Group VI UFA.
I can see Spiller and Jackman re-signed to 1 yr deals because they are solid depth guys and each played pretty well when they were in the NHL. They may be expendable but they come cheap.
That’s a funny thing because I was going to ask the same thing. I was talking with Pascal last night about the suspension. When I said I think Grenier should get at least 5, he said he should get 15 like Kipper did. When he said that I realized that Grenier has just about the same reputation as Kip does. Let’s hope he gets at least 10 minimum.
http://www.nhlnumbers.com/overview.php?team=NYI
The above site is usually very accurate.
According to it, Spiller is RFA, as is Jackman.
But Keith is a UFA, VI.
I have not seen anything on the AHL site. Heard any mention of Grenier getting suspended?
