Artem Anisimov is a bit higher than PA Parenteau with some better auxiliary numbers, too. None of which detracts from your other points, I don’t think….
The fact that the league continues to insure that each team gets at least one representative and that they continue to split by Canada vs the rest of us instead of by conference like every other league causes good players to get left out.
I thought the Purcell choice was terrible because I was expecting Manchester to get a guy (or two) on Planet USA. They got none so Purcell is their only guy. Manitoba is a good team so it seems right that they get two players, but Krog doesn’t deserve to play over McLean.
I hope that at least one Canadian player is either injured or on recall so they can fix the mistake and get McLean on the team. He and Parenteau (who is a -10 so that’s a problem) are the only guys in the top 15 in the league in scoring not on the teams. Lundmark is next on the list at 16th and not named (but also -10) and then there are a bunch of guys going who are below that point.
I’d say that clearly McLean is the one guy in the league with the best argument for being picked who wasn’t. He’s 1 point from being 7th in the league in scoring, 3rd in assists, and up near the top in power play points, yet still a +6.
