The Islanders I believe are not the only team to do this by sending players down on paper. In the 8 years of the team, they have done this every year.
not 100% but I would assume other teams do this to save money….
Do they send guys like Comeau down for a week to save a week’s worth of NHL pay vs. AHL pay? What else could be the reason? And if this is the case, it shows how cheap the organization is. It certainly sends a message to the player that we don’t think of you as an NHL player. Great way to build a player’s confidence.
