I really don’t understand the ‘healthy enough to dress as a back-up, but not healthy enough to start’ thing. They did that with DiPietro last year as well. They’re going to get caught on that someday, I don’t think it reflects well on the Isles.
You’re right on, the actual “loan” part is by the Islanders (NHL club) to Bridgeport (minor league club); and as Mike notes, these are technically an “emergency recall” as per subsection 13.12(m)of the CBA.

but why recall Poulin with Nabakov and Montoya healthy?
I know they write it that way every time, but I agree with you that it’s incorrect terminology. They’re emergency recalls. (Writing that concisely is difficult without coining something like “The Islanders have emergency-recalled de Haan and Poulin,” but still.)
Mike can you explain what “emergency loan” means? I get the “emergency” part seeiming that w/o Poulin and de Haan, the Isles could not ice a complete lineup. But why do they have to be “loaned” by BPT if they are Islanders property?
