No hockey in Waterbury

After an ultra-rare Sunday covering high schools…

A couple of late Nathan Smith penalties turn into a Chicago power-play insurance goal, and Chicago takes a 2-0 lead in the Calder Cup Final.

Darren Haydar is now the all-time leading playoff scorer in AHL history twice over, knocking Jody Gage (goals) and Willie Marshall (points) out of the record book. Haydar had extra rounds in which to do it — more time in his prime, if you will, and on some incredible teams — but he has played only 91 playoff games, compared to Gage’s 115 and Marshall’s 112. So, tip o’cap. Alain Nasreddine meanwhile played in his 100th AHL playoff game.

The Big Pens called up Alex Goligoski, Jonathan reports. Get a sneaky feeling he’ll be back in time for Wednesday’s Game 3?

Larry Brooks isn’t happy with the officiating. He makes a good point about those Penguins/Oilers comparisons, too. (The Oilers weren’t subject to a salary cap, either.)

9.72. Wow. (And by a man named “Bolt.” Beautiful.)
