Wednesday attempted liveblog

-Let’s try top-down today.

-Yeah, why not.

-Lawson goes in goal; Grady says Comeau is in but Joensuu is out. Darien’s Ryan Shannon got called up. Meanwhile, this is great, at the bottom: Bridgeport chartered a plane last night to get off Prince Edward Island. Beautiful.

By the way, here’s the stats.

-Bridgeport goal, scored by No. 23, Josh Hennessy Trevor Smith. (At least we’ve got the strike function here. Poor public address guy…)

-Sorry, been poking around the CBA for an exercise in futility. Meanwhile, the teams have traded PPGs, Kurtis McLean for the home team, Ilya Zubov (taking over the game earlier than usual) for the visitors. The Sound Tigers have taken three minors to the Sens’ one, which is unusual in all directions.

-Well that was (really) quick: Greg Mauldin ties it 11 seconds into the second period. As far as I have, that’s the fastest goal into a second period ever for a Bridgeport opponent. (Fastest, period: Fedor Fedorov, 10 seconds, third period, Dec. 28, 2002.)

-Tomas Marcinko scores on a rebound almost halfway through the period, and Jason Pitton’s initial shot means he gets himself off the schneid, point-wise. That was something he said last week when I did that fourth-line story, that some people might have been frustrated without the points, but he was just going to keep working. Well, there’s an assist.

-Joe Callahan, offensive machine. His goal chases Brian Elliott, and it gives him more than he’s had in a season since the lockout year.

-And speaking of both Jeremy Colliton and schneids… Colliton scores on a rebound for his first of the year after eight assists, late in the second here.

-That’ll do it for two, after Zack Smith, it sounds, took the worst of a bout with Micheal Haley.

-By the way, each of the four Bridgeport lines has produced an even-strength goal.

-Devils defenders just appeared to block not one but two Rangers empty-net opportunities. Unconscious.

-Grady just said he imagined the Sound Tigers fans listening in were a little happier than they were yesterday afternoon. My guess of their response: “not yet…”

-Glass’ giveaway produces an Iggulden goal that one imagines will do it with 9:30 to play. The only question now is how much more kooky trivia might appear.

-Attendance: 3,149. A very AHL midweek crowd.

-One bit of kooky trivia as it goes final, Bridgeport 6, Binghamton 2: This is the first time this season that the Sound Tigers have had fewer power-play opportunities than their opponents.

Good night from my kitchen!
