One in, one out: Wednesday notes

The biggest-name remaining draft pick to sign for the Islanders was Ville Pokka. Pokka signed. There you go. Jesse Graham is the lone remaining player whose rights could expire for the Islanders on Sunday.

If I count correctly, that’s 32 NHL contracts for next year (1 G, 13 D, 18 F), not counting restricted free agents.

And if you missed it this morning (on last night’s post), one of the 11 restricted free agents, Anders Nilsson, to Ak Bars Kazan was announced.

Three assists for Andrew Gordon and a Michael Hutchinson shutout as St. John’s takes a series lead at Wilkes-Barre. Blair Riley’s line gets some laurels in the Telegram. Out West, Travis Morin nets the winner with 8:46 left, 59 seconds after T.J. Brennan’s second tied it, to give the Stars a series lead.

RIP, Maya Angelou and Malcolm Glazer.

And watching “Mad Men,” I knew what Robert Morse used to do; I’d just never gone and seen it. So (#spoilers) suffice it to say my past few days on YouTube have been like the first time I saw Jerry Orbach break into “Lullaby of Broadway.”
