Bears up: Saturday notes

Things got quite testy in the third period of Game 3 of the Atlantic Division Final, but that’s because Hershey had pretty much run and hid. The Bears won 5-2 at Wilkes-Barre to take a 2-1 series lead. Chris Bourque had two goals as they took a 4-0 lead. That series goes every other day from here.

In Cleveland, the Monsters took a 2-0 series lead on Grand Rapids, scoring two late goals to win 4-3 this afternoon. Tonight on the coast, in the same town where Bartolo actually homered, Justin Auger scored 11:55 into overtime to give Ontario a 2-1 win at San Diego, giving the Reign a 2-0 series lead.

Forgot last night about the start of the Worlds. You could maybe understand that, what with Canada running away from the U.S. in the tourney opener. The Americans came back today with a a 6-3 win over Belarus; likely first-overall draft pick Auston Matthews had two goals and an assist. Next up for the Americans is Finland on Monday afternoon at 1:15 (NBCSN).

Know how the other three Islanders draft picks all made their league finals? All three (Barzal, Ho-Sang and Beauvillier) are down 2-0 in those finals. Not that it matters here anymore.

Oh: And happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers. See if the Mavs and the Big Club can give their Moms the gift of a Game 6.
