Immediate agenda: Wednesday notes

Bridgeport returned to practice with a new goalie, Josh Robinson, up from Missouri. You may remember Robinson dominating last year with the Mavericks, the ECHL goalie of the year. He’s here on a PTO to fill in for Christopher Gibson, day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Brent Thompson said they’ll see how he is tomorrow before making a decision on the weekend. Considering a couple of four(ish)-hour bus rides are involved and they’ve brought Robinson in, “stay home” seems to be the way to bet. (Eamon McAdam is also injured in Missouri, or it would’ve been him.)

Also practicing today: Kyle Burroughs. (I guess “a while” could be “a few days,” too.) He said he felt good this morning. If he’s available, “it’s a great problem to have,” Thompson said. “Seven solid defensemen. We’ve got to make a decision. If Burroughs is back in the lineup, it certainly makes it difficult, which six will play.”

It’s also possible the Islanders make the decision for them: They’ve opened a roster spot by sending Mathew Barzal to the WHL. No tip-off if a decision has been made on who or whether anyone will go up, though it’d presumably be a defenseman to get them, finally, to seven.
