Good news/bad news: Thursday notes

Not seeing Christopher Gibson on the ice this morning wasn’t a good sign. Brent Thompson’s description of what comes next sounded worse. “We’re obviously reevaluating him,” Thompson said. “He’s seen our doctors on Long Island. It’s one day at a time as far as coming to a decision on what we’re going to do. We’ll check with the doctors, trainers, (Garth Snow).”

On the brighter side, everything checked out OK for Steve Bernier. He appears to be good to go. And Josh Winquist got through the week well. Thompson said Winquist won’t play tomorrow but could on Sunday.

Kyle Burroughs also won’t play tomorrow but is expected back from his family matter.

Sacred Heart plays Air Force this weekend at the arena; the Falcons are already in town. Friday and Saturday are both 3 p.m. starts. The Pioneers haven’t played since Dec. 10; they’re 6-10-2, 4-8 in Atlantic Hockey. Air Force is 9-6-3, 6-3-1.

And quite the card set for a Saturday giveaway in Hartford.
