Snowpocalypse ’17: Wednesday notes

After Snowpocalypse ’17 dumped, apparently, varying amounts of snowpocalypse — heard anywhere from three inches to 20 over the past 24 hours or so — the Sound Tigers got back to work today in more or less the same combinations as Sunday. One exception was the missing Josh Winquist; he went home sick. Carter Verhaeghe slid into that spot. Connor Jones skated in no-contact red; he and Pat Cullity continue to get their conditioning and timing back. Travis St. Denis is still off skates.

Sacred Heart’s Justin Danforth joined the party; Bridgeport announced his ATO this morning at last (Snowpocalypse). He’s been assigned No. 40, first since Mike Halmo, who kept it for his first full season after he was the eighth guy assigned it in 2011-12. Danforth skated with Eric Boulton and Kyle Schempp.

And yep, Jaroslav Halak’s still here. (Nice win for the Big Club last night with some kid named Ho-Sang contributing a little). Story tomorrow, ’cause it was about time. (Like my latest haircut, it kept getting postponed.)

Speaking of postponements, the CIAC high school finals have been rearranged. (Snowpocalypse.) If the new schedule holds, no championship games conflict with Sound Tigers games, so this is nice. (And hopefully it holds, but who knows? Four years ago, they didn’t get the Division II final in until the Wednesday.)

Darien’s Spencer Knight appears to be the only Connecticut kid invited to NTDP tryouts.

Meanwhile, the U.S. women’s national team is threatening a boycott of worlds. They’re looking for better wages from USA Hockey.

And you can buy our place! (As I keep telling everyone, I’d be nostalgic if I ever had a desk there. Heck, I used to have a mail slot, and then they renovated.)
