Identify: Tuesday notes

Only one change from Sunday: Alan Quine back from his day off, in the apparent top 12 for tomorrow, Day 14 of his conditioning stint. Kyle Schempp appeared to be the one out for him, with Ross Johnston rejoining Ben Holmstrom and Connor Jones.

That would, if it held, leave Michael Dal Colle out for a second game in a row, but Brent Thompson said that was still to be decided.

Was reminded that a week ago Ben Holmstrom said they were still working on their identity. So, um, the past week…

“I think a lot of stuff came together,” Holmstrom said. “It started with last week in practice. You saw how hard we worked. We tried to establish what the group was going to be about, and it carried over to the weekend.”

It’s no secret what they had to be about, particularly considering who’s coaching this team.

“We’re a hard-working, blue-collar team,” Thompson said. “When we don’t work, we’re not very good. … The young guys are learning the pro game. To make sure we’re all on the same page, pulling on the same rope, is key. We know what our identity is, how we have to play. You’ll know when we don’t play that way.”

So what’s the next step in that regard? “Now try to find that consistency with it,” Holmstrom said. “Now establish consistency over the course of the season. That isn’t always easy to do.”
