USA Hockey named its 28-man preliminary roster for the World Juniors this afternoon, and three locals are on it: Yale defenseman Phil Kemp of Greenwich, Chicago Steel forward Jack Badini of (Old) Greenwich and BU forward Patrick Harper of New Canaan. (Though not, as Mark Divver noted off the hop, Chad Krys of Ridgefield.) Islanders draft pick Kieffer Bellows is on the list, too; he and Harper both won gold last year.
The team goes to camp in 10 days. They have to cut down to 23, and the tournament begins on Boxing Day in Buffalo.
