Snow day: Springfield nonlivepostgame

Long day, so I bailed out of the ThunderCougarFalconBird watch late in the first period. (Ehh, I wasn’t watching that closely to begin with. More stuff to transcribe.) So long a day that I called Josh Brown “Jeff” in print. Sorry, Jeff. Go Falcons. (Sorry, Josh.) May catch up another time.

Obviously jumped to the fight in the third period. The production was atrocious at the start of the whole fracas, jumping around from camera to camera, zooming in on ads. Ryan Smith calls it as an assault. When the high camera pans over, we get a shove from Johnston on Hawryluk, on his knees, apparently in the head. Then Bobby Farnham jumps in, and Johnston’s quickly on top of him with help from Holmstrom (impressive work by Holmstrom getting away cleanly). They do, indeed, both persist in the altercation before they’re dragged away.

Ryan suggests Johnston’s suspendable. Not sure the video shows that, at least on AHL Live. But we’ll see. (Speaking of suspensions, previous disclaimers, but: Bridgeport without Connor Jones the past two seasons: 9-12-1-0.)

Johnston is up to five fights.

Bridgeport is, as Ryan noted, there Friday. Get your tickets now. Full day. Star Wars. Last Francesa. Tigers-Thunderbirds.

Impressive teddy-bear-toss turnout, Springfield. But, well, yeah.

Good one at the Arena tonight. Shame the weather dinged the crowd.

Onetime Sound Tigers goalie C.J. Motte got credit for a goal to start the Quad City Mallards’ loss at Fort Wayne on Saturday. The 13th ECHL goalie with a goal. Fun fact on the guy who put it in from Justin Cohn; his gamer.

Eric Hornick passed on Travis Hamonic‘s good news.

And glad for Bob Crawford.
