When I was in high school, my friends and I would play NHL 93. Any player whose actual first name was “Sergei” we called “Stumpy.” I think it started because one of my friends who wasn’t a hockey fan saw “S. Fedorov,” didn’t know who it was and made up a first name for him. I still call Columbus’ No. 91 Stumpy Fedorov to this day.
# 36, Chris Thompson.
Who is the player you call Wolverine?
There was a certain player on our team that I referred to as “Wolverine.” Having seen “Mystery Alaska” a few times, Brodeur now has the nick name of “Skank” in my house. After listening to the B2Network, Norfolk will always be the Norfick Apples from now on. Silly stuff.
Wow, hats off to Randy Carlyle. It takes a lot of intestinal fortitude (I don’t think I could use the word I had in mind) to call on a rookie over a (somewhat) proven vet. Thanks elmo for clarifying that. I’m not “up to date” on Western Conference hockey. I fall asleep in the 1st period.
Anyway, the Evil Empire starts their championship final series tonite. Good luck to them. Hopefully they bring one home for CT!
Elmo’s trying to send us here:

not sure if links work??
Gigere was outplayed by Ilya Bryzgalov and the Ducks went with him. He has been great. I think there will be a lot of goalie moves in the off-season.
Hey, what ever happened to Giguere, the goalie that took the Ducks to the Finals, only to lose to New Jersey? He was pretty amazing
My money’s been on Carolina since before the real season started, but I’m not ready to count the Oilers out. For me it’s all about heart and the Oilers have enough heart to overcome what they might lack in talent. I’ve got a real thing about heart (which is what made me so mad about the end of the Tigers season).
Ducks? If they win who’s career will it help more? Timmy Slaney or Joshua Jackson? (or maybe Emilio Estevez)
As for Smallville, I lost track of it when they started introducing super heroes, super villians and the such. It was more exciting when it was just a bunch of kids dealing with more or less real problems. Too much stuff on the Tivo as it is.
The Canes made the best goalie in the game and made him look like he belonged in Pee-wees. If a team can make Brodeur look that bad, they have my vote to win the cup.
