Speaking of uniformity, the NHL pre-season game at the Arena on 9/29 is the Islanders vs. Devils again????? (Same as last year!)
The building will again – NOT sell out!
Why weren’t the Rangers brought in? You got to figure with hometown favorite Chris Drury (Trumbull), former Sound Tiger (great guy & fan favorite) Steve Valiquette (Orange) and the rest of the team, the Arena would have sold-out as as quickly as a WWE Raw event (i.e. about 2 hours).
I guess the Islanders got this one right, though.
It would have been a total embarrassment to have over 2/3 of the arena filled with Ranger fans for an Islander home game. Good for Islander egos, but not good for ($) business.

Not gonna miss Ogorodnikov or most of the other European jokes this Islander organization tends to draft or trade for. Take your pick: Nokelainen, Marjimaki, Malec, Bergenheim (and more over the past few years). All over-do the finesse thing and get knocked off the puck with ease, and any of them barely score (check the stats!). The Sound Tigers better get away from that boring, ineffective and wimpy European style and get back to “put your head down and go to the net” theory WINNING teams do. Want an example? watch ANY Detroit RedWings game or their affiliates. Winning teams play the body and GO TO THE NET, not circle their way to center ice and lose the puck. By the way how’s Yashin doing? The Islanders bought him out because he was ANOTHER ($$$overpaid$$$) European “STIFF”. The Islander organization should be drafting from Canada & US Colleges. All these guys may not have more talent than some Europeans, but at least they play like MEN!
