Leg bone’s connected to the…. Friday notes

We’ll do more wrappy things over the next couple of days, including contract statuses (double-checking one in particular), but a couple of the newsier notes after they flew home and basically started up exit interviews when they arrived:

–Seven players going to the Island: Scott Mayfield, Bracken Kearns, Marc-Andre Cliche, Justin Florek, Christopher Gibson, Michael Dal Colle, and Parker Wotherspoon. A few somewhat notable omissions; could just be roles, could just be having 35 bodies already. They do happen to be impending unrestricted free agents, although so are Cliche, Kearns and Florek.

–Patrick Cullity, Parker Milner and Ross Johnston were headed to Missouri. The Mavericks begin Round 2 tonight against Justin Courtnall and the defending-champion Allen Americans.

–Injury disclosure now that it’s over. Justin Vaive was indeed shoulder surgery, an injury that began with that hit from behind here in mid-March against the Penguins. He tried playing with it, then tried resting it, then finally gave in to get the surgery. Should be fine for next season; he said doctors told him another hit could’ve made it worse and cost him half of next season.

–When that Ryan Pulock slapper hit Andrew Rowe’s right leg? It found space between his shin pad and skate, and it cleanly broke his tibia. Yeah. (Rowe is headed to South Carolina; he doubts he’ll be able to play, he hopes he gets to watch his teammates make a long run.)

–And when someone fell on Joe Whitney in Portland? The twist broke both his tibia and his fibula.

Cripes.

So like I said, will do the annual quote-dump and the other wrap stuff in the coming days.
