Worcester fell behind by three tonight early in the second period, and facing elimination, that might well have been it. Pretty solid endorsement there. Eamon McAdam wasn’t super-busy in relief but got the win. First goal of the game to Josh Holmstrom, proving once again how big it is to score first, evidently.
Back in the AHL, Providence evened the series with Lehigh Valley with a 5-3 home win. Go-ahead short-handed goal for Jordan Szwarz put the B’s ahead again after they blew a 2-0 lead. Peter Cehlarik’s second on a power play proved the winner. Series shifts to Allentown the rest of the way, though it waits until Friday. In Charlotte, the Checkers have a 2-0 lead, beating the Pens tonight. That series goes to Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
Other winners on a night where everyone played except Texas-Ontario (they’re one of four games tomorrow): Syracuse (up 2-0 on Rochester), Toronto (Chris Mueller in overtime to start the series against Utica), Manitoba (Grand Rapids took its second lead with 7:19 left; Cam Schilling tied it 31 seconds later), Rockford (Jeremy Colliton’s first North American playoff win) and a Pacific Division team to be announced (Tucson leads the series 1-0 at this writing).
