Shootout win: Saturday notes

They went back and forth, back and forth, forth and back, and when the smoke (or maybe the fog; it is June) cleared in Toronto, the Marlies had a series lead in the Calder Cup Final. Trevor Moore’s power-play goal with 10 minutes left gave the Marlies the 6-5 lead that they finished with. Game 2 is Sunday. Highest-scoring opener in 28 years.

Had a couple of the craziest downpours I’ve ever suffered through at a high school game today at Newtown. I’m still drying out. Literally: just found more stuff soaked through.

A couple of locals go in the QMJHL draft, Greenwich’s Jason Marsella to Halifax in the eighth round, and New Canaan’s Ryan McGuire to Blainville-Boisbriand in the 12th.

And RIP, Bruce Kison.
