(Presumably him, anyway: His birthdate is typoed, making him 10 years older than we thought. Or, I guess, he could have a 10-years-older doppelganger with a lot of the same biography.)
Meanwhile let’s not talk about the first game for Team USA. Another chance tomorrow, against France. (Well, today, by now. In like five hours, at this writing. These late AHL overtime games on the Coast are killers.)
Back home, two sweeps in the East, so it’ll be Charlotte vs. Toronto for the Eastern Conference championship. (They’ll wait awhile: Friday for Game 1.) Chicago leads Iowa 3-2 with games Monday and *Wednesday in Rosemont. The Wolves await the winner of San Diego and Bakersfield, a series the Gulls led 3-1 going into Saturday… and at this early-Sunday writing, they still do, because they’re going to double overtime in Bako. At a quick run-through, looks like the first series with more than one multiple-overtime game in eight years, Hamilton-Manitoba, 2011. If they get to a third OT period, it’ll instantly double the number of AHL teams that have ever played two 100-minute games in the same postseason, period, let alone series (Cleveland, 1939; Worcester, 2004; and the Condors may be excited to know that both of those teams won the first and lost the second). If the Condors win tonight, that series, too, goes Monday in San Diego and *Wednesday back in Bakersfield.
Elsewhere, former St. Joseph goalie (and Sound Tigers stickboy) Ryan Wilson was taken by Sioux City in Phase 2 of the USHL draft.
