Road game: Bridgeport at Lehigh Valley (2)

  • Who, when, whatever: Sound Tigers at Phantoms, PPL Center, Allentown, Pa., Sunday, 3 p.m.
  • Watch: AHLTV pay-per-view
  • Listen: Mixlr audio
  • Twitters: Alan / the Sound Tigers / Ianniello (OK, the Phantoms) / Tony Androckitis
  • Box score: Extant (R: Markovic, Gour; L: Knapp, Magee)
  • Game notes: Scheduled Post again, so we’ll be waiting to see if anything goes down today. Saturday night in Wilkes-Barre, a 5-2 loss, Bridgeport went without Bobo Carpenter, who took that late hit to the head on Friday. Alan called it precautionary on the pregame show. Cedric Lacroix drew in for him and, 11 seconds in, fought Jamie Devane. It didn’t go well. Lacroix bled enough that they brought the Zambonis out (maybe COVID-19 worries, as I saw a few people speculate on Twitter?) and delayed the game almost a half-hour. Lacroix didn’t return. So. If Carpenter can’t play today, and Lacroix can’t, we’ll see what they do. Edit: It’s the return of Arnaud Durandeau. First game anywhere since Feb. 8; first AHL game since Jan. 4. We don’t figure them for having any extra healthy skaters. (The Islanders returned Thomas Hickey to Bridgeport, technically, when he didn’t dress for Saturday’s NHL game, but they can easily call him back up on emergency for the road trip.) Worcester has defensemen, but no healthy Bridgeport-contract forwards. College seasons are ending, so it’s ATO Season. Meanwhile, Chris Bigras won’t be in the lineup today; he got two games from the AHL for the hit on Carpenter. Jeff Kubiak’s instigator from the incident was rescinded, so he didn’t get suspended.
  • Meh, what else is going on: The IIHF Women’s World Championship has been canceled for coronavirus fears. COVID-19 is also changing media policies: The Islanders were among teams to keep media out of the dressing room and bring players outside. And in Worcester, Shelton’s Billy Vizzo made his pro debut; three shots and minus-3 in a 5-2 loss.
  • If this were a regular blog post, what word or phrase would most likely follow “More” at this point: Wednesday?

(Simon Holmstrom apparently banged up last night)
