Schedule post/Kvitova-NastiaPav

Tennis! I may be upstairs when it hits. See the AHL site and the Sound Tigers’ site at 3 p.m. for the links. I’ll add to this when I can.

Meanwhile, the Simpsons clip we’re all thinking today.

While it rains…

It exists. (The League’s release does, too.)

Precisely no home non-holiday weeknights (two mornings, day after Christmas, day after Thanksgiving). A very division-heavy schedule: Here’s your “schedule format,” as it were. Those with an asterisk, Bridgeport is playing more than it ever has (in Adirondack’s case, since the move from Philly in 2009-10; they did play eight times several times there).

Team 2013-14 change from ’12-13
HFD 12 +2
ALB 10* +4
ADK 8* +2
SPR 8
MCR 6
HER 4
NOR 4 -4
POR 4 -2
PRO 4 -4
SJ 4 +4
WOR 4 -2
BIN 2
SYR 2
UTI 2* +2
WBS 2 -2

A couple of off-site games: New Year’s Eve in Lewiston, Maine (Portland plays a few games there), and Feb. 22 (usually an eventful day) at the big barn in Philadelphia. (Will be sad to look across the parking lot at what’s not there.) That’s during the Olympic break, day of the Bronze Medal game, in fact.

It’s the fourth time the Sound Tigers will play the Phantoms at WhateverBankItIsToday Center. I’m getting old: I was at all three, completely forgot one and conflated the other two in my memory. Two were in the lockout year; the other was a day-night NHL/AHL doubleheader early in the blog era.)

Utica’s the first Rumored-Conference opponent since Abbotsford in 2009-10 (though, obviously, it’s further east than Syracuse). With Bridgeport also playing everyone in the Eastern Conference, that makes 15 different opponents, and one @JRP288 (never heard of him) pointed out that that’s a lot. It’s the most, actually, since Bridgeport played 19 teams in 2002-03; it played 20 in its inaugural season. (Wouldn’t mind a trip to Rochester again sometime.)

Nighttime edit: A thought or two now that it’s not raining and there isn’t tennis and I’m on a computer that sometimes works:

–As Eric Hornick noted on Twitter, Bridgeport gets what’s most likely the Adirondack Phantoms’ last game before Allentown.

–Bridgeport also gets Portland’s last game in Lewiston before the Pirates get back to Portland. (Drove past the Cumberland County Civic Center one night a few weeks ago. You could actually see inside from the street. Eerie.)

–Neat that Worcester, Portland (twice) and Manchester are making three-game trips to St. John’s. (Well, maybe not for St. John’s fans seeking variety, but… Could angry up the blood.)

–I counted 13 three-in-threes. (No guarantees. It’s late.) That’s roughly typical of late.

–Note the changes from what was originally below: Cool Fun appears to be a Tuesday, Nov. 5, instead of Wednesday. Also, Sunday, Jan. 26 is at 5 p.m. instead of the usual 3 (Syracuse is coming in from Hershey the night before; don’t blame them.)

–Several other bits of interest in the league’s release.
