Stars go up: Wednesday notes

The Sound Tiger factor continues: Six goals in the final for St. John’s, five of them by former Sound Tigers. But Jordan Hill was out, Kael Mouillierat got the only IceCaps goal, and Travis Morin won Game 3 7:20 into overtime. The Stars take a 2-1 series lead after the AHL’s first overtime game since two on May 16 (Providence beat Wilkes-Barre, and the Stars won at Grand Rapids). They give the barn over to the anesthesiologists, so they won’t play again until Monday.

Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports that Brad Larsen may be hired to the Blue Jackets’ coaching staff. OKC’s Todd Nelson and WBS’ John Hynes are among the AHL coaches reported to be getting NHL looks.

No Cup awarded tonight in New York. A fantastic look at Darryl Sutter from Bruce Arthur.

Eventually everyone will go through Zagreb.

Todd Van Der Werff on The “Lost” pilot, which I should really rewatch myself sometime (thinking of rewatching “Terriers” this summer).

RIP, Bob Welch.

And thanks to frequent correspondent Bill, who indirectly pointed us to the Tampa Bay Rays’ tribute to Don Zimmer. It’s 22 minutes long but worth it.
