Islanders assign Sound Tigers to Bridgeport

The New York Islanders all but sent down the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this morning.

Eight on waivers, three BST-signees released from tryouts, 10 players assigned.

No great shocks. Most of who you expected, given the makeup of the Islanders and their relative health. It’s probably easier to go through who possibly ends up here but wasn’t on that list: perhaps Kirill Petrov, Justin Vaive, Louis Leblanc, Kyle Burroughs (injured), Stephon Williams, and some from among Ryan Pulock, Scott Mayfield and Adam Pelech. All of them, save Petrov and Burroughs, are in the lineup for the Islanders tonight against Carolina, per Arthur Staple.

Still awaiting details on camp, which we’ve been assuming starts Monday, including whether there’d be any tryouts. There are plenty of guys under contract. If everybody clears waivers, their AHL contracts plus players sent down today would sum to 30 (18-9-3).

Edit, 12:45 p.m.: Hartford’s camp roster includes tryouts for Alex Vazzano of Trumbull, former SHU goalie (who’s signed with Hartford’s ECHL affiliate, Greenville), and for Luke Curadi of Cheshire, former Notre Dame-West Haven defenseman.

Edit2, 1:20 p.m.: Now hearing some of this group may remain on the Island. Awaiting details. Still seems some group skates here Monday.
