Like Ice in the Sun: Thursday notes

When hockey players and coaches come off the ice commenting about it, you know it was frigid at Wonderland today. Status quo*, though Ross Johnston is once again taking contact. He won’t play this weekend; timetable still to be determined. They’ll be taking a break after Saturday anyway.

Albany comes in for the first time this season on Saturday, and Pete Dougherty reports that it looks like Ken Appleby in net for that one, with Yann Danis going Friday.

Kerry Fraser weighs in on the Dennis Wideman/Don Henderson incident from last night.

John Scott on the whole thing.

And former Providence mayor Buddy Cianci, who, as Mark Divver notes, helped bring the Bruins to Providence, has died. His obit is one of those fascinating ones for us ink-stained wretches: Written in advance and published after its writer has left the paper. (Fortunately, has not left this earth.)

*-Not the underappreciated-in-the-States band, though I guess I’ve kinda been on that kick lately.
