The Big Club opened its exhibition season with a win over a Flyers split-squad team in Brooklyn tonight; Josh Ho-Sang scored a reported beauty, Michael Dal Colle got an empty-netter, and two guys fought Nick Cousins for a hit the Islanders deemed questionable. It was a youngish lineup with a few PTOs (Patrick Cullity and Connor Jones inked tryouts earlier in the day (edit, Tuesday, 11:10 a.m.: Arthur Staple says add Josh Winquist to that list)). The Islanders have two preseason games Tuesday.
I was more occupied with the Mets and Marlins, overshadowed obviously by the memory of Jose Fernandez. It’s still unfathomable.
