Local stuff: weekend notes

A few local notes the past few days, headed by Stamford’s Ryan Haggerty, who re-signed with the WBS Penguins.

USA Hockey named its Olympic staff, which includes a lot of heavyweight USA hockey names, including Keith Allain. Our* Chip Malafronte notes that a few Yalies, including a couple of locals, could be candidates for the Olympic team.

Johnny Longo, former Fairfield Prep standout and onetime Sound Tigers training-camper, is the new Notre Dame-Fairfield coach.

Nick Johnson, Connecticut native, former Sacred Heart forward and younger brother of two former Sound Tigers, signed with South Carolina.

Chris Hine on Chelsea Dagger… musicologically. It’s part of a Trib package that includes Phil Rosenthal on the 1977 White Sox’s two big contributions to ballpark music, including one we’ve talked about before.

And RIP, Darren Daulton.

*-That is still awesome and weird to say.
