Out of the mist: Tuesday notes

Walked in this morning to one of those days: The air conditioning wasn’t yet overcoming the humidity, the plexiglass was fogged over, and a mist wafted over the ice. (“Always a good time when you can’t see,” a player said.) That said, all indications were the ice was better than yesterday, which is good progress. (Plus, among the unintended consequences of the end of the circus: Ice won’t have to come out here after a few games, as it usually did when the Former Greatest Show On Earth came to town in late October.)

Same groups as yesterday, down to Connor Jones pulling double duty. They’re expected to stick for one more day, and then the staff will pick a lineup for Thursday’s game in Hartford. Unchanged status for those missing yesterday; day-to-day.

Practices at the arena are closed (like this Thursday’s game) to the public, but next Wednesday’s practice will be open to those who have Sound Tigers season tickets or flex packs by then. Contact the team for more information.

Stockton’s camp roster includes Darren Nowick, whose AHL contract the Heat finally announced. Was wondering where he was.

Bracken Kearns and Kevin Czuczman are on waivers. Columbus released Brett Gallant from his tryout. Justin Vaive is apparently in camp with Milwaukee.

USA Hockey’s Olympic schedules.

And Air Force won the Atlantic Hockey coaches’ poll; Sacred Heart, which is scrimmaging here as we type, is 10th.
