All over the world: Thursday notes

First Northern blood to Toronto, twice caught by Syracuse (Carter Verhaeghe scoring against his other old mates) but never passed in a 6-4 Marlies win. They’ll play again Saturday. The other three divisions all play Friday.

Sean Backman returns to Berlin. Boston signed Connor Clifton to his ELC after a solid year on an AHL deal.

The World Championships begin Friday, and the rosters have some Bridgeport and local flavor. Cam Atkinson of Greenwich is on Team USA, as is Orange’s Tage Thompson (yes, I will call him that the rest of my life). Kristers Gudlevskis is indeed on Latvia’s roster. Former Sound Tigers there: Anders Lee, USA; Nino Niederreiter, Switzerland; Anders Nilsson, Sweden; Tomas Marcinko, Slovakia; Ryan Pulock and Josh Bailey (Edit: Four months later and I forget Anthony Beauvillier), Canada; Frans Nielsen, Denmark; Ville Pokka (sorta) and Sebastian Aho? Wait, he’s Swedish I know Sebastian Aho we used to hang out in the same place many mornings in the fall OH, Finland*.

USA-Canada to start things Friday morning.
