Hogging the wins: Friday notes

Jeremy Colliton’s Rockford IceHogs are still perfect in the playoffs. With a goal from Greenwich’s John Hayden, the IceHogs came from behind to beat Manitoba in Game 1 of the Central Division Final.

Lehigh Valley beat Charlotte in Game 1 tonight on Greg Carey’s late power-play goal after Travis Sanheim was hurt.

Texas evened the series with Tucson, grabbing a 2-0 lead Friday and tacking on a couple of empty netters after the Roadrunners got on the board. The next three games are outside Austin, Monday-Wednesday-Friday. (That’s the only series off Saturday.)

Fancy new IIHF box scores! (Which I’m not entirely sold on, as I haven’t found individual goalie stats yet… Could be my computer, too.) Cam Atkinson’s second shootout goal got the USA off to a good start against Canada. Tage Thompson assisted on an Anders Lee goal, and Anthony Beauvillier scored for Canada. Frans Nielsen had an assist and the shootout winner in Denmark’s win over Germany.

Penguins equipment manager Dana Heinze tweeted that our man Anthony Ciambriello and others from the WBS Pens’ staff joined Pittsburgh.

And one last time, happy Harvey Day.
