One (or two) to go: Saturday notes

Toronto has its third lead in the Calder Cup Final, and it can end the North American professional season at home Tuesday. The Marlies jumped out to a 2-0 lead, then made it 6-1, with a couple of goals for defenseman Calle Rosen and three points for Andreas Johnsson.

There will be no defending Kelly Cup champion next year. Colorado leaves the ECHL with a second straight championship, with Gabriel Verpaelst’s short-handed goal with 2:29 left giving the Eagles a come-from-behind win over Florida.

The Sound Tigers announced yesterday they raised $6,500 for Make-A-Wish

Missed it the other day: Onetime Sound Tiger Greg Moore joins Ryan Hardy as coach of the Chicago Steel.

And RIP, Anthony Bourdain and Harry Katzman.

Edit: Steve Buckley reports that John “Pie” McKenzie has died. RIP.
