Islanders sign Sislo

Since 1998, only one New Jersey Devils AHL affiliate has won a playoff round. The Islanders have just signed that team’s top two scorers.

Joining Matt Lorito, Mike Sislo has signed with the Islanders. A four-time 20-goal-scorer in the AHL, Sislo brings experience and offensive ability. He and Lorito were the top two scorers on the 2015-16 Albany Devils — the season after Lou Lamoriello went to Toronto, though the Lamoriellos brought both guys to the organization — which also included Seth Helgeson and beat Utica in the first round of the playoffs. Sislo has been with San Antonio, Toronto and Tucson the past two years since departing Albany after five-plus seasons with the Devils.

The Islanders announced Helgeson’s and Christopher Gibson’s re-signings this afternoon, along with Lorito’s two-year deal and a one-year contract for former Penguins forward Tom Kuhnhackl.

So a pretty big couple of adds on the wing for Bridgeport in the past 24 hours.
