Martin returns, for McAdam

The Islanders have traded Eamon McAdam to Toronto to reacquire Matt Martin.

Martin has two years left on the deal he signed with Lou Lamoriello’s Maple Leafs two years ago; cap hit is $2.5M, though a little less owed to him.

McAdam departs after two-plus-ATO seasons with a 2.97 AHL GAA and .895 save percentage in 36 games (27 of them full). He had a tough pro debut, an up-and-down (more like down-and-up) second year, then played nine games (five of them full) this spring while Christopher Gibson was up. He went back to Worcester and partnered again with Mitch Gillam into the playoffs, which ended with this wild night.

The organization will need some depth in net, but again, it’s July 3. A fan favorite returns. McAdam gets a fresh start.
