Tryout concluded: Friday notes

Another little bit of Bridgeport Sound Tigers history calls it a day… though the man who made it will actually come closer to Bridgeport than he has in almost 16 years. Alex Burrows announced his retirement this morning, and what seemed like moments later, it was announced that he’ll be an assistant to Joel Bouchard with the Laval Rocket. Burrows is arguably the most successful Sound Tigers tryout player in team history, though he never actually played for the Sound Tigers in anything but an exhibition game during his camp tryout in 2002.

So that “Sound Tiger returns as Laval coach” story just got a little longer.

The AHL announced its Team Business Awards.

And RIP, Steve Ditko and Adam Calder.
