Cool night playing an NHL game in Bridgeport, Parker Wotherspoon? He laughed.
“I played all last season here, so it feels like at home for me.”
Wotherspoon played alongside Ryan Pulock tonight in a 5-2 Islanders win over the Rangers in Bridgeport. He was credited with the second assist on the last two goals for his team (on both of which, the goal scorer made quite the moves to get the shots off).
“I’ve had a lot better camp than recent years. My confidence is growing. I feel confident with the puck. I’m making plays. I’m moving my feet.”
Ex-Sound Tigers were all over the scoresheet and otherwise. Stephen Gionta got penalty-kill time (so, late, did Mike Sislo, though not a onetime Sound Tiger). They fought. They got involved in scrums after a huge Cal Clutterbuck hit.
The 43 remaining Islanders will reconvene from here, and another set of moves will come at some point to get them to the roster limit. Bridgeport will open camp Monday morning with what they’ve been sent so far.
And then Year 18 will be on.

This was a beauty of a goal from Pulock. It reminded me in a way of — maybe more “about” than “of,” if you know what I mean — his first pro goal, on which he went end-to-end and toe-dragged through the St. John’s defense on the Rock. He’s got The Shot, but he’s got lots more than that, too.
Attendance figure was lower than last year’s, 8,612 to 7,033, but prices were higher.
And we didn’t get the seven-second-delay event from Wes McCauley but from Pierre Lambert. Ah well.
