Our annual “don’t get too attached to these units” line, and they could change as early as tomorrow, Brent Thompson said. “Just trying to get the waiver guys on the ice today,” he said. “We’re going to mix and match, kind of go through, reset the lines, prepare for the game this weekend and go from there.”
Yes, game. Hartford canceled Friday’s, leaving just Saturday’s. One fewer chance for the kids to impress, theoretically, though Thompson said a few of the tryouts have caught his eye.
The mix up top changed a bit Monday when the Big Club signed defenseman Luca Sbisa.
Today’s waivers list included Ryan Haggerty of Stamford, which indicated that Pittsburgh signed him to an NHL contract. CapFriendly confirmed: two years for Haggerty, his first NHL deal since his entry-level contract he signed with the Rangers in 2014. He’d been on an AHL deal with the WBS Penguins.
