Lines for now: Monday notes

This is all subject to change, as you know well. Roster deadline on the Island is tomorrow. Moves to come (Tom Kuhnhackl is on waivers, for instance). But Lines To Read Too Much Into, Monday edition:

Along with yesterday’s moves, the Railers’ training camp roster reveals that Evan Buitenhuis is there. So that leaves 17 forwards (Matt Gaudreau is on crutches, at least a couple of weeks; Ivan Kosorenkov (upper) didn’t skate with them and is day-to-day, said Brent Thompson), nine defensemen and two goalies here.

Thompson said he doesn’t have numbers in mind at the moment (at least that he’s saying) for opening night; something to be discussed (and, again, what the Big Club does in the next 29ish hours could change things). “We’re going to be patient, see what happens with the Islanders. We’ve got a good group of guys that have worked hard and deserve to be here,” Thompson said.

Speaking of numbers, they’re still wearing Islander training-camp numbers.

Handful of familiar names on waivers today before tomorrow’s roster deadline.

The Islanders revealed a third jersey.

If you’re an Athletic subscriber: Mark Lazerus’ 6-year-old daughter ranks the NHL’s mascots, and it is fantastic.

And RIP, Charles Aznavour and Marty Balin.
