Schedule tomorrow: Tuesday notes

(I love that this gag lives on)

The schedule comes tomorrow, but as has become a newish tradition, the home openers came today. Bridgeport has the Penguins for the 19th home opener, back at 7 p.m.

Other openers involving Bridgeport are Oct. 5 at Springfield (will bet this is the opener, though a couple of teams haven’t announced their home openers yet) and, notably, Oct. 11 at Charlotte, when the Checkers will raise the banner.

Other notes since the last time we checked in (Cole Bardreau‘s NHL.com page is about as close to free-agency news as has popped up in a week, though admittedly we’ve been otherwise engaged for most of it):

The Connecticut Whale are moving to Danbury.

Former Islanders video coach Ryan Ward has joined South Kent Selects Academy.

Local woman saves nation. Those Alyssa Naeher doubts were in full swing when the USWNT swung through Hartford last summer. Neat to see her shut those down awhile.

Gosh, this was beautiful: A full satellite view of the planet in a time-lapse gif. Sunrise over the Pacific. A hurricane churns off the coast of Central America. And then here comes a darn solar eclipse.

And after almost a week’s accumulation, sadly, RIP, Jared Lorenzen, Arte Johnson, Lee Iacocca, Eva Kor, Ross Perot, Greg Johnson, Martin Charnin and Cameron Boyce.
