Road game: Bridgeport at Charlotte (2)

  • Who, when, whatever: Saturday, 6 p.m., BoHANglays Coliseum
  • Watch: AHLTV pay-per-view
  • Listen: Mixlr audio
  • Twitters: Alan / the Sound Tigers / the CheckersHockey / Jason Shaya
  • Box score: totally (R: Blandina, Waterstradt; L: Radolinski, T.Lyons)
  • Game notes: Win last night, with Jeff Kubiak, in for Otto Koivula, playing probably his best game in the AHL, offensive confidence boiling over in a two-point game. He got the game-winner, wrapping around his own rebound after he went through a defenseman to get the initial shot off. And his assist was similar. Last night’s lines did reflect this week’s practice as noted in last night’s post, Lorito-Kubiak-Wahlstrom. Christopher Gibson made 42 saves. Thomas Hickey, though, was missing after the first period. It looked as if he was on the bench to start the second period (I counted 13 skaters on the bench through the first five minutes or so), but I didn’t see him on the ice. Didn’t see a reason, either. See who plays tonight. Edit: Alan says it’s lower-body for Hickey, which makes me think of a mini-tangle-up in front of Gibson on a Bridgeport PP with about five minutes left last night, with Colin Markison going to the net. But then, Hickey returned and played after that, so consider that just speculation.
  • Meh, what else is going on: “Eetu Luostarinen” seems like one of those names you desperately want to hear from a native Finn.
  • Aren’t you supposed to be doing something else: Not today, though I will, probably.
  • RIP, Robert Forster and Ted Green.
  • Tip of cap, David Freese (sorry).
  • If this were a regular blog post, what word or phrase would most likely follow “More” at this point: Sometime during the week.
