RIP, Walter Robb

The Times Union reports that former Albany River Rats owner Walter Robb has died at 92. “It appears that Robb, who fell ill (from COVID-19) late last week, was the first confirmed fatality of the pandemic in the Capital Region,” Eric Anderson reports.

“In addition to being a pioneering innovator and philanthropist, Walter Robb was a lifelong hockey fan, and the American Hockey League was fortunate to be touched by his passion and leadership during his 12 years as owner of the Albany River Rats,” AHL president David Andrews said in a statement. “The entire AHL offers its condolences to the Robb family on his passing.”
